Amanda Summers is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. She began her career at IBM, where she worked for 12 years before moving to a small software development company. Amanda then joined CGI, a global Canadian systems integration and consulting services firm with over 76,000 employees worldwide. At CGI Calgary, she managed the Energy Solutions team for over 13 years, overseeing a group of 50 members. Her team developed and maintained six oil and gas applications for more than 150 clients.
Amanda took on the role of managing the Energy Solutions team right as the pandemic started, supporting her remote team through continuous communication and effective team building. She also mentored several aspiring female leaders during her tenure.
Currently, Amanda works for Cadeon, a boutique data and analytics firm based in Calgary. She collaborates closely with architects and data specialists on data solutions, handling business development, operations, and people management. Her role is dynamic, with each day presenting new challenges and opportunities.
Amanda was the founder and chair of the Women’s Mentorship Program at CGI Calgary, launched in May 2020. She is a strong advocate for gender equality, believing that men and women should have the same opportunities for the same jobs. Amanda emphasizes that pay should be based on qualifications and experience, not gender, and she is dedicated to creating awareness to break down barriers to equality.
